Leave Comfortable Behind
Lately, I have stepped way out of my comfort zone in a few different areas of my life. It made me think of you all, and our community - and the way I watch members step outside their comfort zones every single day. We all know that comfort feels good—but the problem is, it rarely leads to growth. The truth is, the body and mind only change when they’re challenged. That doesn’t mean pain, punishment, or pushing to extremes. It means leaning into the small discomforts that stretch you, strengthen you, and move you closer to who you want to become.
Think about it:
The first time you walked into the gym 🚶♀️, it felt uncomfortable.
The first time you lifted a heavier weight 💪, it felt uncomfortable.
(Especially that dead lift!)
Remember he first time you pushed yourself on cardio? My bet is… uncomfortable.
But you had to get uncomfortable to find a new you.
Why does it matter?
Comfort zones are cozy, but they’re also limiting. Staying in them keeps you the same. Stepping out of them—even just a little—creates progress. What kind of progress?
Building stronger bones and muscles 🦴
Boosting confidence in daily life ✨
Gaining energy to keep up with kids or grandkids 👨👩👧👦
Discovering you’re capable of more than you imagined 🚀
How do we know these are true? Our members tell us all the time.
”I never thought I could… ”
”Remember when this was so hard?”
”I am so proud I can… ”
Your willingness to face discomfort is proportionate to your readiness to change your habits - and maybe change your life.
Create a “new hard”
You don’t need to flip your whole routine upside down. Start small:
Add one more rep than you did last week.
Push yourself just a little harder on cardio.
Sign up for a class you’ve never tried.
Shift your mindset from “This might be so hard” to “If I can do this, imagine what else I can do”
These little stretches push the edges of your comfort zone—and before long, what once felt hard will feel normal. And then you will be looking for a “new hard”!
