Stop looking at the scoreboard

My thought this month
Stop looking at the scoreboard. Focus on showing up and playing the game, over and over.

Why This Works
We all want the outcome. Stronger, leaner, more energy, less pain. And we want to know it’s working, so we check. The scale, the mirror, how our clothes fit. Over and over.
The problem? Outcomes are slow, and they bounce around for a hundred reasons that are often hard to control. Stress, water, hormones, a salty dinner.
Inputs are different. Inputs are yours. How many days you show up. Limiting screen time before bed. Whether you ate protein today. How hard you actually pushed on your last set.
Those are the things that can move the needle, and you can actually see them. Not every day, and not on command. But they’re the biggest part of the equation you get to steer.
And when the needle isn’t moving? Change the inputs, not the commitment. If 5am workouts keep falling apart now that it’s dark out, the answer isn’t to quit. It’s to find a different time. Same goal, new input.

Something to consider
If someone looked at your last two weeks, what would the evidence actually say?
Not the scale. Not the mirror. Your inputs.
- Showing up: How many sessions did you actually make it to?
- Effort: On your last few sets, how many more good reps did you have in the tank?
- Sleep: Are you getting to bed at a time that sets you up for the next day?
- Fuel: Are you eating enough protein to support the work you’re putting in?
You don’t need to nail all four. Most of us are solid on one or two and struggling with the others. That’s where the opportunity is.

The Takeaway
Pick one input to focus on for the rest of the fall.
Just one. The one you know you’ve been letting slide. Make it small enough that you can do it on a dark, rainy Tuesday when you don’t feel like it.
Then keep showing up, and let the evidence stack up.
